service: Blackfriars-St Pancras

While Blackfriars station is being rebuilt trains can’t terminate there and so they have to go further to St Pancras, Luton/Bedford/St. Albans and beyond. Up to Blackfriars and City Thameslink they are run by Southeastern. After that they are run by First Capital Connect. The future of these services from 2011 is dependent on the terms of the future Thameslink franchise set by the Department for Transport (DfT). Before inviting train operators to bid for the new franchise, the DfT will consult all relevant stakeholders including rail user groups. We need to make it clear to all concerned how much we value this service and want it to remain.

The Government is consulting about the future Thameslink franchise. These do not include services running through our SRUG stations (ie Peckham Rye, unhead, Denmark Hill, North Dulwich, East Dulwich, Queens Rd Peckham, Sth Bermondsey). However many of our services will be transferred to this new franchise after that:

  • in 2014, services to St Pancras and beyond from Sevenoaks via Nunhead, Peckham Rye, Denmark Hill, Elephant & Castle and Blackfriars;

Victoria & Blackfriars services imminent changes

There are some important changes coming from 20 May in our local services to Victoria and Blackfriars. The new pocket timetables are now available in the stations. These changes are the consequence of Blackfriars station reopening after a long closure for redevelopment. That closure resulted in our Blackfriars services being diverted to Victoria after 8pm during the week and on Saturdays and Sundays.
