The South London RUS proposed that there should be a new service of two trains per hour between Victoria & Bellingham (south of Catford) to reduce some of the harm caused by the loss of the South London Line in 2012. This plan was cancelled without further consultation in 2009 by TfL asking the DfT to transfer to the TfL budget the funding for the Victoria-Bellingham line to pay for the East London Line Extension Phase 2. During the campaign for the SLL, TfL proposed that the new Bellingham- Victoria service be extended to Bromley and be introduced when there is funding for it. In January 2015, in the renewal/extension of the current Southeastern rail franchise, the Dartford - Victoria service was extended to a full 7 day a week service, restoring two trains an hour (every 30 minutes). The campaign for a new Victoria service to Bromley/Bellingham will continue for the new contracts in 2018. Achieving this would give what is needed for this service - a train every 15 minutes to Victoria.
Found in the Archives of February 2012 - this letter from London Mayor Boris Johnson supporting the SRUG claim to regain a full 7 day & evening service to Victoria. Now we have lost the full week service of two tph from London Bridge to Victoria, with the demise of the South London Line in December 2012, we need to remind him and TfL of this, and ask what they will do to make it happen.

This coming Saturday 8th December the South London Line (SLL) service will end. It first started in 1866 and has more or less served us and our predecessors faithfully all that time. This is an invitation to join us for all, or just part, of an extraordinary group journey on this last historic day. One of the joys of being a south Londoner is the pleasure of sailing along the roof tops of inner south London on the historic line connecting directly all our local stations - South Bermondsey, Queen's Rd Peckham, Peckham Rye, Denmark Hill, Clapham High St, Wandsworth Rd, Battersea Park with central London stations London Bridge and Victoria - any journey to central London being 20 minutes or much less. Some of those journeys to central London in future will take two to three times as long and be long and circuitous instead of short and direct, and/or less frequent or partial.

Below is the latest news on these big changes in our local rail services, and some of the implications. We understand that the rail companies will be publicising the details two weeks before the changes. TfL will email all Oyster card holders who have supplied their email addresses. The Thameslink franchise consultation has now been joined by the South Eastern franchise consultation:
There are some important changes coming from 20 May in our local services to Victoria and Blackfriars. The new pocket timetables are now available in the stations. These changes are the consequence of Blackfriars station reopening after a long closure for redevelopment. That closure resulted in our Blackfriars services being diverted to Victoria after 8pm during the week and on Saturdays and Sundays.Read more

Last Autumn, we let you know the latest information about the gaps in our services to Victoria that will be created by the loss of the South London Line (trains between London Bridge & Victoria via Peckham Rye and Denmark Hill) from December 2012. We asked users to email the Transport Minister and the London Mayor to let them know how you as users would be affected by this, and to ask them to fill the gaps in services.
