Sometime over the next year into 2010, all stations in SRUG's area should have the machines and gates necessary to enable use of pre-paid oyster cards. This section also covers ticket prices, and the Freedom Pass.

Read moreRail users travelling with a Freedom Pass have the difficulty of being able to travel with it only after 9.30am on overground rail, even though it can be used before 9.30am on bus and tube. That is a great difficulty where the journeys, like ours from SRUG stations, usually start with the overground rail part. Boris Johnson, Mayor of London and Lord Andrew Adonis, Secretary of State for Transport announced last month that Oyster pay as you go will be accepted across all national rail services in London from 2 January 2010.
